Marat’s out. yeah I sorta saw that coming. The thing that ticks me off is that in patches he was shining much more then roddick – he is definitely the more superior player, yet he has trouble maintaining a focus. he likes to throw things away: chances, oppurtunities. but he also makes the most amazing shots you would ever imagine. actually saw volkov jump out of his seat with a “woow” plastering his face, a few times. and for volkov, that must’ve been a good shot for it to happen
anyhoo. marat could have won but didn’t. the positives from the match: he’s getting there. he’s getting there. and just a few more months and mayhaps we’ll get our old marat back? keep tight you fans.
I don’t think i quite believe it just yet..
Kyoong Classic Finals – Andy Roddick def Roger Federer 6/2 3/6 6/3
And in true tradition, to welcome the spankin’ new grand slam, we must keep a watch on The Matches You Should Not Miss, No:
Jan Hernych versus Mikhail Youhzny Seeded Youhzny always did do well on the hardcourts and has a habit of causing upsets in the gland slams. He’s up against Czech Boy Many Are Taking Notice Of. Will Youhzny’s overbearingly focus and dangnabit attitude allow him to sail through? well i guess we’ll never know since they probably will be busy NOT showing this match, but hey, just in case.
Richard Gasquet versus Filippo Volandri Volandri is one of those tennis players who’ve you’ve probably heard about, but never seen – but do not underestimate an italian on a tennis court. But anyhoo, i just put this on the Not Miss List since i so badly crave the drug that is Gasquet. It’s going to be his year, mind (if not the next) – always, always a favorite, the young shy frenchman and his talented shotmaking, enough to even make TMF crack a half-smile
Marat Safin versus Benjamin Becker The Guy Who Knocked Agassi Off versus the russian accumulation of all things perfect (well atleast for the women
), hopefully Marat will hammer the guy, but marat being marat, ya’ never know. Will Agassi glee with delight? Will the russian break two or more rackets? will there be curses in english? well, we’ll just have to wait and see, innit?
David Nalbandian versus Janko Tipsarevic Any tennis player who romps around with tolstoy wirtten over his body, is fine by me. (and i heard ole’ Tipsy is quite the bookworm – yumm!) but lets see here, nalbandian under injury, already broken mentally by a first year match loss to the let’s admit, not-exactly-striking-fear-form of marat safin (love) against one of lower ranked players who KNOWS hoe to drag even the best into five sets (even if he does end up losing, always
) Tipsy always looks great on grass, lets see them goods on hard court now.
James Blake versus Carlos Moya Ouch. Absolutely THE most toughest opener. Sure, moya’s lost the special touch somewhere in the dust that Rafael nadal has been able to conjure around the tennis world, but you see, moya has the talent and experience to overcome many. Though i’m betting on a out and out victory for blake (hard court, decent run at Sydney etc.) but i do think it will hurt, whoever loses.
Fernando Verdasco versus Paul Henri-Mathieu Mathy, Mathy, will want to see you win, preciouss!!
Robert Kendrick versus Rafael Nadal Kendrick who, you ask? Kendrick Him who took our Baby Bull into a fivesetter stretch at Wimbledon last year. We’re still trying to figure out how El Toro escaped from 2-sets down and an obviously shaken disposition. I guess Kendrick realized who he was playing, third set in. But make no mistake, shaken once, could-be shaken again!

“Psst. Check out that babe near the water cooler!”
This seems unfamiliar territory, WordPress, but what the hey, we’ll give it a go.
